Extreme Reading (Please see below for the letter)

Mrs Dunn’s class started the assembly with children reading whilst playing football, gymnastics and even riding scooters! We watched a video of some of the previous photos teachers have taken in unusual places (dustbins). The whole of Millfield will be able take part in this competition. There will be prizes for the top 3 photos in foundation stage, ks1and ks2.

Dear Parents/Carers,

Following the success of the Extreme Reading competition two years ago, we are delighted to announce that the competition will be running again this year.

I am sure you will agree, reading is important not only to improve your child’s Literacy skills but also to stimulate their imagination.  So, to encourage this (and to have some fun) we are challenging you to read in the most exciting, strange or extreme place you can find. The children have had an assembly where some suggestions have been made and they have seen previous entries.

Your child can be photographed reading anywhere as long as their safety is not compromised!

The top 3 entries for KS1, KS2 and EYFS Departments will win a prize and all children entering will receive a certificate.

The competition closing date for entries is Friday 8th January.  You need to e-mail entries directly to ereading@millfieldacademy.co.uk

The Winners’ assemblies will be held week beginning  18th January.
