Whole School Assembly: Mental Health Awareness Week

To start off this week’s Assembly, we started it as normal. Displayed on the board, was a picture of 2 children conversing- ‘What characteristics are they showing’? Mr Wood had already decided 6 characteristics, so all the children had to guess which ones he had chosen-this took a while! The 6 characteristics were: Kind, Communication, Patience, Empathy, Curiosity and Honesty. Next, was attendance, 11 out of 12 classes were above 96%. We had 3 winners! Our winners were: Mrs Doe’s Class, Miss Sembi’s Class and Mrs Button’s Class. After that, we were discussing about a very sensitive topic- Mental Illness, in which all our previous characteristics were shown. We talked about how it was nothing to be afraid of and you should always talk to an adult. Some signs of Mental Illness are: Depression, Anger, Anxiety/Panic attacks and Eating Disorders. If you feel you have any of these problems, please talk to an adult- ‘A problem shared is a problem halved’. This week is actually Mental Health Awareness Week so, on Friday, we will all were BRIGHT colours to spread awareness!

To end the assembly, we all sang the song ‘Together’.
